Taking a bass fishing vacation is may be not every one's "cup of tea" but to a hardened fisherman with eyes only for a quiet spot on a lake somewhere, it's akin to being in heaven.

A bass fishing vacation is more than just heading to your favorite water hole for a few days. In North America, anglers have an extraordinary choice of vacation options and even if you're not too experienced with a rod and reel, organized packages where the sole aim is to get you to feel the excitement of reeling in a giant bass, are available.

Bass Fishing In Mexico

Us anglers have the added benefit of being able to head to Mexico for a few days and do battle battle with some of the biggest bass on the planet.

Lake El Sato offers some of the best fishing anywhere and better still, some of the biggest fish. Cabo San Lucas is a great bass fishing vacation destination where even the world's worst angler could reasonably be expected to land a fish. Organized fishing trips are available all the time in Mexico and it's one of a bass fisherman's prime targets for fun and pleasure.

USA Packages

A bass fishing vacation in the US means working out the best times of the year to visit a certain destination.

The first question that you want to ask yourself is where you want to go, Alabama, Arizona, Maine, Florida, California, North Carolina, the options are endless.

Then you have to ask yourself how long do you want to be gone, maybe it’s just for a weekend or as long as a few weeks. Once you figured that out then you have to ask yourself how much money you want to spend.

This can depend on whether you're in a camping mode or prefer more comfortable accomodation. You could spend anywhere from $78.00 to $300.00 dollars a night. It all depends on the accommodations and amenities, whether or not if you want to stay in a tent or a full service resort all depends on you.

The advantage of using a bass fishing vacation package is that the travel agent will do all the foot work for you but it comes at a price.

Alternatively, you can organize the trip yourself and if you're an experienced angler then this should be no problem. Finally, the most important decision of all - do you take your better half? If you do and she hates fishing then make sure you choose a destination where there is ample shopping choices. It's a great way to score "brownie points."

The age old question among fisherman..."What's better; a fancy bass fishing trip to some exotic location or simply sitting out in your boat on a quiet waterway somewhere in the States?"

It's a tough question. Hardened bass fisherman will usually go with the latter as the experience of sitting on a quiet lake somewhere with only the sounds of nature to worry about and then to have the silence broken by the thrashing of man's greatest foe, the bass is unbeatable.

Taking Bass Fishing Trips

A bass fishing trip to exotic places however, are hard to beat especially if you want guaranteed success. Mexico offers some excellent fishing options in the way of guided tours and the promise of snagging the biggest bass in the world. That's pretty hard to say no to.

The old school bass fisherman will say living in ritzy hotels for a week and going out on guided tours getting waited on hand and foot is not the way to enjoy the thrill of catching bass.

We say..."hold on guys and gals...whatever you think is a fair thing then stick to it!"

Phew! We're glad that little argument is over. Or is it? One of the attractions of a bass fishing trip is the ability to put a boat in the water. Devoted bass fishermen will tell you it's not the same when you are taken out on a fancy craft and told where to thrown your line.

The Serenity Of Being In Your Own Boat!

When you are able to put your own boat in the water you are in control; you need to seek out the good fishing spots but above all, the tranquility of the setting you choose makes all the difference.

Then your peace gives way to excitement, and rightfully so. You are here for action, and there is no greater action in the world than the battle and the struggle between a man and the fish on his fishing line. Without this struggle, a bass fishing trip would be meaningless and frankly, life would be meaningless to many of us. For many, taking a fishing trip is not just another weekend away; it is a rite of passage and a religious experience.

Just a man and his greatest enemy, the bass. That sounds pretty good to me.

Canada Fishing Trips

Some of the earliest vacations I remember are the Canada fishing trips that my family took together. Each year we would all pile into the camper and drive north to Lake Christie in Canada. Though I was only four or five, I remember a lot about these vacations. I remember that there was a lot of fishing, a lot of swimming, and we ate a lot of fish when we were there. I guess the amount of fish we had to eat would suggest that there were always plenty of fish there to catch.

We always left for our Canada fishing trips in the middle of the night. I remember my mother waking me up at four a.m. and stashing me away in the camper. We didn’t stay in the camper when we got to Canada, but it was always a great place for someone to sleep when they got tired. Thinking back, I don’t think it actually took us very long to get where we were going, but we always wanted to get there to start our Canada fishing trips as early as possible. This meant we left in the middle of the night, and that anyone who was not driving would be sleeping on the way.

There was one thing that happened on our last of our Canada fishing trips that had an effect on my life. We were in my grandfather’s motorboat going for ride when the motor hit something and flew up into the boat. It did not detach from the boat, but it flipped up so that the blades were out of the air. It scared me so badly that I would not get into a boat for another ten years. Perhaps that is one good reason why that was the last year we took Canada fishing trips. I suspect that going again when I was afraid of a boat would have ruined my vacation.

I can imagine that there are many people who still take Canada fishing trips. Even though I was very young when my family took their last one, I do know that my grandfather and my uncle went there just a few years ago. They told me that they managed to find a spot along the same lake that we used to go to for our Canada fishing trips when I was a child. They said it was not the same without the entire family there though, and they wished that everyone still had time to go. While this may never happen again, I am grateful that I have these lovely memories with my family.

Canada Fishing Trip

One of my fondest memories from childhood is a Canada fishing trip which I took with my father. Most of the time, when you hear stories about wilderness fishing trips, they tell about a father passing on skills to his son and teaching him all about the great outdoors. Our Canadian fishing trip was nothing like that. My father knew very little about fishing. He knew very little about camping in general. It was not a fly in fishing trip either. It was not in a particularly remote area. It was actually rather close to civilization. My father, you see, was not the outdoorsman that I wanted him to be. He can not get by in the woods for six or seven days like I wanted to.

The Canada fishing trip was a time of learning for both of us. Before going on the Canada fishing trip, we did months of research. We went to the library and bookstore, buying every book about fishing in Canada that we could find. We learned about woodcraft, fly fishing techniques, building a fire, cooking food in the great outdoors, and canoing. It was all very exciting for us, but we knew that this reading could not make up for actual experience. We have planned this to be the first of many Canada fishing trips, and we knew it would be the hardest. We would have to teach ourselves everything.

The first night on the Canada fishing trip was hard. We got into camp too late, after getting lost for several hours. It was dark, and we barely found the campsite. We were both in a bad mood, and we tried to set up camp as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we couldn't do it. Someone had left trash all over the campground, and there were wild animals hovering about. We ended up spending the night huddled in the canoe. In the morning, we were both freezing cold and damp. We almost went home, but we decided to persevere. I am glad that we did.

After that early misadventure, the rest of the Canada fishing trip went off without a hitch. We were much more careful in our navigation, and we never got lost again. That night, we actually got into camp early enough to get 10 hours of sleep before the sunrise. We woke up feeling refreshed, and cooked one of the best breakfasts that I can remember. It definitely was an amazing trip.
