Will adding food coloring to a fish tank harm the fish?

I am working on a science experiment idea and would like to find out the effects of food coloring on fish, but I don't want to do it if it will kill the fish. I am not talking a bottle of fish coloring-just a drop or two.

Horseback- You are full of it. Not all vertebrates are protected by cruelty and animal-rights legislation. You may disagree with the laws and allowances as they stand, but that's not reason to go spouting nonsense to someone making an honest inquiry.

Fish= not protected
Birds=not protected
Rodents=not protected

To answer the question- for experimental purposes, no it won't greatly harm the fish to add a couple of drops. Even if the coloring is mildly toxic- there should be enough water to effectively dilute any harmful substances. For fish keeping purposes- it probably would have some negative effect on fish if condotions were kept long-term.

Mother Lode Fishing Report
Trout: This week brought good fishing for many anglers here at Lake Camanche. Steve Ryall from Folsom caught two nice rainbows, one 5 pounds at South Shore Marina and one 4 pound from North Shore day use point. Both were caught on chartreuse PowerEggs.
