Question about fishing?

okay i do alot of fishing on lake ontario, catching small mouths, rock bass, perch, etc. i use worms, sometimes cray fish or minnows. i dont catch big fish though, usually always under 12 inches. would u suggest a lure? i bought a rapala jointed lure for almost 10 bucks but i never catch nothing on lures! what do you suggest for catching big fish? also i have an ugly stick spinner rod

Unmam gave you some good advice. Bigger, bulkier, Jigs will produce bigger Bass. AND by using slightly larger lures you "kinda" weed-out the "dinks".

My Son has the same issues you are having. However, it isn't lure selection that cause him to rarely catch larger or better Bass.

He is easily frustrated unless we are having constant action; he doesn't pay attention to a variety of "fishing clues" that would help him catch bigger and more fish; his casting skills need vast improvement; after 20-30 minutes of no-one catching anything his attitude changes from "upbeat" and "optimistic" TO "Debbie Downer". Attitude and "faith" in your abilities (as an angler) can "make or break" you during fishing.

If this sounds similar to you, try "believing" in what you are casting.

Bait can be quite productive if you know exactly where the good spots are to fish. However, you cover more water using lures.

Here are some lure choices that will help you catch more fish:

1. Senko-type Soft Plastic "stick-bait"-

Good basic colors for Soft Plastic???- Black, Black/Blue, Watermelon, Red Shad, Pumpkinseed.

2. Berkley Powerbait Worm- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_38256____SearchResults Powerbait has built-in fish attractant that causes fish to hold on to the lure long enough for a fisherman to better feel a strike. However, there are sprayable fish attractant that will do the same for any Soft Plastic.

You must choose & put a "trailer" on your Jig for it to work. Good trailers are double-tailed Grubs & Crawfish imitators.
